For its continuity, now in its 60th edition, this festival has been attracting quality music of different styles since 1958, and is the oldest music festival in Catalonia. It was a pioneer incorporating the concept of “music festival” as a cultural activity with a subsequent impact on tourism for Sant Feliu de Guíxols, on the Costa Brava. Although classical music was the sole protagonist in its beginnings, over the years it has incorporated other genres and artistic styles such as dance, jazz, rock and pop. Popular artists performing at the festival include Herbie Hancock, Sabina, Bebo Valdés, Patti Smith, Lou Reed and New Order.
